BONITO
Mato Grosso do Sul

Known as the Brazilian capital of ecotourism, Bonito (Portuguese for 'Beautiful') is a city of 22 thousand inhabitants that truly lives up to its name for celebrating the best of Brazilian nature with over 40 eco tours.  It was nominated as "The Best Ecotourism Destination in Brazil" 16 times, and nominated "The Best Sustainable Ecotourism Destination in the World".

Bonito offers tours for all tastes - from zip lines, skydiving and rappelling for the adventurous, to relaxing activities such as snorkelling, swimming, and hiking along waterfall trails, appropriate for tourists of all ages. To participate, tourists need to get a voucher issued by one of the agencies in the city.  For the convenience of its guests, Pousada Galeria Artes has its own tour agency: Agência Galeria Artes. Pricing is fixed, so there is no difference in cost between one agency and another.

Bonito's tours include:

  • Snorkelling – A mask, a snorkel, and rivers known to have some of the clearest waters in the world create the perfect setting to enjoy the fish and underwater vegetation.

  • Waterfalls – Nature trails take tourists to waterfalls of all sizes (including the largest in the state), several of which allow swimming.

  • Caves – Discover the other side of nature with stalactites, stalagmites and rock formations that create an enchanting setting that's ideal for escaping the heat or rain. Among the caves is Bonito's most famous attraction: the Gruta da Lagoa Azul (Blue Lake Grotto).

  • Horseback Riding – This tranquil activity is perfect for the whole family (children can ride along with an adult). Riding through the countryside and forest trails on horseback is a great option for those who love nature and animals.

  • River Tubing - Drifting down one of Bonito's famous rivers on an inflatable raft or inner tube is a fun option for those who enjoy a mix of relaxation and adventure - courtesy of the several rapids and small waterfalls along the way.

  • Rappelling – You can choose between the highest rappelling platform in Brazil, with the Boca da Onça tour, and an underground adventure in the Abismo Anhumas cave.

  • Canopy Tour – For those who like a challenge, canopy tours provide a fun adventure with their zip lines and obstacles of varying difficulty.

  • Scuba Diving - Bonito offers scuba diving adventures in both rivers and lakes.

  • Day-Use Resorts – For those who want a day of relaxation, Bonito's several day-use lake/waterway parks are sure to fit the bill, offering a mix of sunbathing, snorkeling, stand up paddle, kayak and ziplines (activities vary by resort).

  • And much more - Contact our agency to discover all the tours in the region!

Once you experience its natural wonders, you will understand that this city could not have been called anything less than... Bonito!
